Makati Focusing on Performance Rather than Results
Although only able to garner a solitary point in the last three matches, Kaya FC–Makati travels to Laguna not lacking in confidence. And with the club set to take on a hectic six-game stretch in July, the team is eager to build a winning run — beginning with a trip to Biñan to face Stallion Laguna.
“I think for the month of July, this is the opportunity for us to get more points. And in order to be successful, the other players [who have not seen so much action] need to step up in the following games,” said Makati head coach Noel Marcaida.
Robert Mendy’s 89th minute strike at the University of Makati last Sunday looked to have sealed a spectacular comeback against Global Cebu, but the away side found an unlikely equalizer just moments after. The draw was a bitter pill to swallow for Kaya, but instead of reveling in the lost points, Marcaida has found solace in the impressive level of play the team is currently displaying.
“I think the advantage going into this game [against Stallion Laguna] is we’re coming from a really good match against Global Cebu. We’re a bit disappointed we didn’t get the three points, but getting one point out of that game was better than none,” he added.
When Kaya last faced Stallion, Makati took a rather comfortable 1-0 victory at UMak, with Marwin Angeles firing in the game’s only goal. Wednesday’s match will kickoff at 4pm.
