Kaya Women’s Semifinal Recap After holding off a late comeback from Azzuri Verde, the ladies advance to the 7’s Football League Final.

The Kaya FC–Iloilo Women’s Team booked their spot in the final of the AIA 7’s Football League on Sunday, after a thrilling encounter with Azzuri Verde.

Prolific goalscorer Shela Cadag got Kaya off to the perfect start with a long range strike that was too hot to handle for the goalkeeper. Bhebe Lemoran doubled the advantage shortly after with an unstoppable free kick from close range. Let Dimzon’s side were good value for their two-goal lead, controlling proceedings on both ends of the pitch.

In the second half, Tea Roxas came on to add a third. Nicole Ramores’ rocket from long range was spilled by the goalkeeper, and the substitute’s determination and persistence punished the brief fumble.

The victory seemed inevitable at this point, but Azzuri Verde’s Maye Mendaño had other plans. From a throw in, the talented forward powered in a header to make it 3-1. Then, she pounced on a rare miscue at the back to rifle in a low shot, setting up a nervy finish to make it 3-2.

Kaya managed to see off the late flurry, however, setting up a highly anticipated final against Nomads on Sunday, July 10, 6pm, at the McKinley Hill Stadium.
