Kaya Takes Command in Group B, Teenager’s Heroics Save Team Socceroo
Group B took centerstage at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Thursday night, as Kaya romped to another victory in the United Football League’s first tournament of the 2014-15 season, the FA League Cup. New signing Louis Clark was the main man again for the UFL heavyweights, scoring a hat-trick to add to the four goals he bagged in his debut. In the other match of the day, teenager Rogie Maglinas scored a heroic last gasp equalizer to earn Team Socceroo their first point.
Only four days since annihilating Dolphins United, Kaya were once again in fine form against 2nd Division opposition. Although they led by only a single goal at half-time, the floodgates opened after the break, with a Jovin Bedic thunderbolt and a Christian Ayew missile adding the gloss to Clark’s hat-trick. The British winger, who plied his trade in Australia before making the move to the Philippines, put his searing pace on full display once again throughout the evening, as he terrorized Forza’s left side for most of the match.
“We did some good things. There are still some bits and pieces that we’re not happy with, and the players aren’t happy with. There’s still lots of work to do, but initially good,” said Kaya head coach Adam Reekie, before sharing his thoughts on Clark’s bright start in the UFL. “Yeah he’s doing well. But like all the lads he’s got lots to work on. He’s hit the ground running, so hopefully it continues for a long time.”
