Kaya FC–Makati returns to play on home soil on Sunday, riding high after taking maximum points in Ilocos last Wednesday. The Makati club drew their opening game against Ceres Negros at the University of Makati Stadium, before defeating the Davao Aguilas two weeks after in the same venue. With the visit of Stallion Laguna, Kaya looks to stay unbeaten in front of their home fans.

“Our advantage is the home crowd. It gives a boost to the team, especially the Ultras Kaya — they’re always cheering. You can expect a physical game, as Stallion is very aggressive. But we’re prepared for this,” said Kaya midfielder Jovin Bedic.

Although Stallion Laguna enter the game on the back of a heavy defeat against JPV Marikina, they are not being taken lightly by Kaya head coach Noel Marcaida.

“We’re expecting a fast transition game against Stallion,” he said. “They have players like Fitch Arboleda, Balot (Ruben) Doctora, and Jan Jan Melliza, who have the pace that can really exploit space if you give it to them.”

Kaya currently have seven points after four matches, with a 2-1-1 record. Sunday’s match wraps up a grueling run of four games in the span of two weeks.

“Four games in 15 days is quite difficult. But being professionals, there are no excuses. You have to be able to deliver your responsibilities,” said Marcaida.

Meanwhile, Stallion Laguna are at the bottom of the standings with only a solitary point so far. Their last match was a 4-0 defeat to JPV Marikina at their home ground at the Biñan Football Stadium.

“We’re practicing more on defending because that’s where we have been encountering problems,” said Stallion standout Fitch Arboleda. “It will be physical tomorrow, because like us, Kaya is very aggressive.”
