Kaya FC Look to Bounce Back Against Mendiola PFL 2023 — Kaya take on the Brave Men looking to get back to winning ways.

Coming off an opening day setback at home, Kaya FC-Iloilo now travel to Imus, Cavite looking to get back to winning ways against Mendiola FC 1991.

Last week’s top-of-the-table clash with Dynamic Herb Cebu FC ended in disappointment for the yellow and black; who found themselves on the losing end of a 3-2 shootout.

“We wanted to take revenge against a team we lost to in the second round last year, so we are very disappointed with the result,” noted head coach Yu Hoshide. “Especially since it was a home game in Iloilo, the players seemed more dragged down by the loss than usual—but that’s now behind us and we are turning our attention to the Mendiola game.”

When wins and losses are decided on the margins, how a team starts is just as vital as how the team finishes. Despite a slow start coming out the gates, Coach Yu praised the valiant fight the boys put up on the comeback trail.

“It was our first game of the year and I had the impression that we started slowly right from the beginning of the game. It was a game in which we didn’t fight right from the kickoff,” Hoshide stated. “However, in the second half when both teams were down to 10 players, we had the strength to fight hard which was a positive aspect of the game.”

Turning the page to this next match against the Brave Men of Mendiola, Kaya will be looking to correct their mistakes from the last match and bounce back into form.

“Mentality and attitude are key against Mendiola. I believe that we are doing the right things, but they just didn’t work well in the first half against Cebu. We want to get our confidence back, so we will give 100% starting from kick off,” Coach Hoshide proclaimed.

See you all at the City of Imus Grandstand on Sunday! Kickoff’s at 4:00 PM, and you can also catch the livestream on the PFL’s Facebook and YouTube pages!
