“We want to finish the league strong,” said Kaya FC–Iloilo head coach Noel Marcaida ahead of Saturday’s clash against three-time champions Ceres Negros. “Even though we already hold second spot, we want to end the league improving our level of performance.”

After dropping the last three encounters, Kaya are determined to get one over their rivals, and to prevent Ceres from finishing the league undefeated.

“In general I’m happy with my players. It’s not easy to play four games so quickly, and my players have still been able to cope with the intensity of the game. Some of the lapses in the last match were understandable. Fatigue comes into play given the hectic schedule, but I’m happy with the boys getting maximum points in these last few outings,” added Marcaida, who steered his side to victories over Mendiola FC 1991, Stallion Laguna, and Green Archers United in quick succession.

With a goal and an assist in his last outing, newly returned Kenshiro Daniels was a particular bright spot in the team’s last outing, and could feature once again at the weekend.

“I think he played his part. He was able to give us different dynamics. He loves to get the ball and to try to control the tempo of the game,” said Marcaida of Daniels’ contribution, which included a curling effort from a free kick. “Is he a specialist? Yes, I think so. That was our first goal direct from a free kick this season. We’ve been waiting for that, and Kenshiro made it happen. We’re happy to have him.”

For former Ceres Negros player, Camelo Tacusalme, Saturday’s match is one he is particularly excited for.

“For Saturday we’re very excited. Ibibigay namin yung 100%, especially ako. This last game ng league na ito, mananalo kami against them,” he said
