Manila, Philippines — Kaya FC-Iloilo kicked off the weekend’s Philippines Football League action in style, defeating Manila Montet FC fourteen-nil on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Rizal Memorial.

Martini Rey wasted no time etching his name on the scoresheet, opening his Kaya account in just the 5th minute. He controlled a cross from his former FEU running mate Sherwin Basindanan, baited the Montet keeper off his line, and slotted the ball into the net.

With the offense ignited, goals came in quick succession. A beautiful passing sequence in the 8th minute ended with Dokyung Lee tapping in a cross from Rey. Just three minutes later, Doki doubled his tally, breaking through the right flank and finishing off a Basindanan through ball with ease.

The onslaught continued as Lee followed up on his own deflected shot to complete the first half hat-trick in the 23rd minute. The goals continued to pour in as Sherwin Basindanan and Mark Swainston joined the action in the 24th and 26th minutes. Basindanan, after receiving a pass from Yiyoung Park, shrugged off the onrushing keeper and calmly punched in his first goal for the club. Two minutes later, Swainston seized on a loose ball in the box to score his first goal of the season.

Martini added his second in the 28th minute, with an assist from Jovin Bedic. Doki wasn’t done yet either, striking once again in the 34th minute. Also set up by Bedic, the ball was lifted into the path of his run in the box, and Lee chipped the keeper for a spectacular fourth goal. Rey then completed his hat-trick in the 39th minute, slotting in his third following a scramble in the box.

The team maintained their momentum in the second half. In the 50th minute, Jovin Bedic earned and converted a penalty with ease. Four minutes later, he recorded his third assist of the day, setting up Parky for a composed left-footed strike—scoring his first for Kaya.

Not content with his hat-trick, Martini Rey grabbed a fourth goal in the 59th minute courtesy of a low cross from Bandiougou Konate. Marwin Angeles added his name on the scoresheet in the 90th minute, with Konate once again setting up the finish—a cheeky lob over the keeper. The final goal of the day came in stoppage time, with Jarvey Gayoso tapping in a cutback from Jhan Melliza.

This dominant victory extends Kaya FC-Iloilo’s winning streak to six games, maintaining pole position in the PFL title race. Next up, the team’s looking forward to their homecoming match against Philippine Army FC on June 22.
