KAYA FC–ILOILO COMPLETES SWEEP OF STALLION LAGUNA
Kaya FC–Iloilo 3-1 Stallion Laguna

12 October 2019 — Jordan Mintah’s brace at the Aboitiz Pitch on Saturday ensured Kaya FC–Iloilo completed a clean sweep of Stallion Laguna in the 2019 Philippines Football League. Darryl Roberts added the icing in what was a commanding 3-1 victory for the hosts.
Normally a fiery and even affair over the years, turned into a one-sided contest this season. Over four encounters, Iloilo walked away triumphant in each one, while scoring seven and conceding only one (a penalty).
Kaya showed the confidence of a side that had gotten the better of the matchup from the opening whistle. Yannick Tuason fired a couple of warning shots early on to keep the opposition on their toes. Marwin Angeles, along with Alfred Osei and Darryl Roberts worked hard to stifle Stallion’s fluidity, ensuring minimal troubles for the Iloilo back line.
Jordan eventually opened the scoring 37 minutes in with some individual brilliance. From a long clearance on the opposite end, he bullied his way onto the ball, sold his defender on a fake, then buried a shot near post. He connected again before the half was through. From Jayson Panhay’s corner delivery, the Ghanaian forward didn’t even need to jump as he directed the ball into the net.
In command at the break, Iloilo emerged in the second without losing rhythm. Marwin Angeles continued to dictate proceedings in midfield. Yannick Tuason was constantly probing on the right flank, while Jordan Mintah remained ever dangerous up top. The only blemish to an otherwise immaculate display at the back came in the 65th minute. Audie Menzi was adjudged to have given away a penalty, which was duly converted by Jhan Jhan Melliza.
With a lifeline secured, Stallion attempted to muster a comeback. Despite raised spirits, however, Mike Casas remained largely untroubled in Kaya’s goal. Darryl Roberts restored the cushion with a minute left in regulation, rising highest to head in Kenshiro Daniels’ corner.
