Miguel Tanton on Key to Victory Against Meralco Manila
It’s only been six days since Miguel Tanton’s memorable return to action from injury, a match which featured a stunning strike and a well placed assist. It was a performance which earned praise from across the globe.
“Oh yeah. Arsenal, Chelsea, all the big EPL teams have been in touch,” he chuckled. “Just kidding.”
“I just got calls of congratulations from friends and family from back at home. I told my brother that I scored from 100 yards,” he added.
On the horizon of a big game against rivals, Meralco Manila, Miguel is hoping he’ll finally be involved from the beginning. He missed the first meeting due to suspension, and could only come on as a substitute in the second.
“We’re hungry to beat them, and I’m excited to hopefully be a part of that on Saturday,” said Tanton.
“They normally play direct. Their set pieces are one of their strengths,” he explained. “They’re a young team, so they’re full of energy. They press nonstop, you know. The key to beating them will be getting the first goal. They like to stay compact. So if we get the first goal tomorrow, I think we’ll definitely win the game.”
Although hosting the league leaders, who have had the better of them in the two previous meetings in the PFL, Miguel feels there’s not any added pressure.
“No, I don’t think so. We’re focused on the Final Four, not so much on the individual teams. But we always want to beat them because they’re our rivals.”
