Global Score Dramatic Late Winner to Edge Stallion, Kaya Stay Perfect

Kaya continued their perfect streak in the League after overcoming Manila Jeepney 4-0 on Saturday night. The result meant Kaya have won their first three outings, scoring a total of 10 goals without conceding any.

While the game ultimately proved a blowout, it was tightly contested until Chris Greatwich doubled the advantage in the 67th minute, calmly slotting in after being found nicely by Louis Clark. Until that goal, Jeepney looked a threat in the game – showing why the club pushed heavyweights Ceres-La Salle and Loyola Meralco Sparks to the edge in their first two outings in the 1st Division.

Prior to that, Joshua Beloya had put Kaya in front in the first half, taking advantage of a botched clearance to smash a shot in off the goalkeeper after good work from OJ Porteria. Following Greatwich’s strike, the substitutes took over, with Kenshiro Daniels supplying the goals for both Jovin Bedic and Younousse Yaogo.

“Strikers, and the attacking players get all the headlines and the glamor, but without a solid defense it’s very hard to win games. We need to have a little look at the goalkeeper and the back four, and give them a big pat on the back. Because they allow us to go on and attack. I was happy with not conceding – obviously another 3 points – and getting some goals for some players that hadn’t scored prior,”said Kaya head coach Adam Reekie.
