Kaya Smashes Nine Past Dolphins, Laos Notches Big Upset Against Socceroo

In new head coach Adam Reekie’s first game in charge, Kaya hardly looked like a team in transition as they dismantled Dolphins United with ease in their opening match in Group B of the FA League Cup on Sunday. New signing Louis Clark announced his arrival to the United Football League wih a bucket of goals, pacing the club to a dominating victory. Later in the day, Laos notched the first big upset of the competition, as the 2nd Division side shocked top flight club Team Socceroo 3-0. Manila All-Japan and Forza played to a 1-1 draw in the day’s third and final match.

By half-time the result was already set in stone, with Kaya comfortably ahead 5-0. Clark had already registered the season’s first hat-trick, and there was simply no way back for the 2nd Division squad. It got worse after the break, with Kaya ruffling the net on four more occasions, with Clark responsible for another one. The only blemish for the 1st Division heavyweight was a consolation strike from Dolphins late in the game.

“It was our first real game as it was theirs. We conceded, which we weren’t too happy about, but all things considered, it was a good first performance,” said head coach Adam Reekie, before revealing his first impressions of the Philippines. “Everybody is very athletic and very technical. They’re very passionate, so I’ve been impressed by the standard and the passion the people have for the game.”
