Manila, Philippines — Kaya FC-Iloilo’s final home game of the 2024 Philippines Football League season ended in triumph, a resounding six-nil win over Philippine Army FC at Campo Alcantara Stadium.
Robert Lopez Mendy set the tone in the 22nd minute, finding the opener after being expertly set up by Shuto Komaki. The striker curled up the right side of the Army box, cut in onto his left foot, and fired a precision shot that deflected off the post and into the net.
Just seven minutes later, Jarvey Gayoso doubled the advantage. After Eric Esso cut the ball back to him on the left, his initial effort was blocked, but quickly pounced on the rebound and put Kaya firmly in control.
In the 40th minute, Mar Diano and Marwin Angeles combined beautifully for Iloilo’s third—Diano played a quick one-two with Angeles before racing through on goal for the clinical finish.
The goals continued to flow in the second half. Shuto Komaki extended Kaya’s lead in the 60th minute, charging up the right flank and unleashing a rocket from distance, assisted by Mar Diano.
Iloilo extended their lead to five following a 71st minute own goal from Army, the result of a dangerous cross from Yiyoung Park deflecting off a defender and into the back of the net.
Jarvey Gayoso then completed his brace in the 75th minute. Martini Rey played a sublime through ball that split the Army defense, leaving Gayoso with a clear run on goal. The forward made no mistake, slotting the ball past the keeper to secure the dominant 6-0 victory at home.
This win marks Kaya’s seventh consecutive victory in the PFL, maintaining their hold on the top spot in the standings. They’ll aim to maintain this momentum heading into the season’s final stretch, gearing up for a crucial matchup against Stallion Laguna FC on June 30th.
