Transfer windows are a time rife with change: some of it is new and exciting, while others are filled with thank yous and goodbyes. Ahead of the resumption of the 2022-23 Philippines Football League season, Kaya FC-Iloilo can confirm that five players are on the move.

Sandro Reyes is taking his talents to Germany, having signed with Bundesliga 2 side SpVgg Greuther Fürth’s U-23 squad. The 19-year-old featured prominently for the Philippines’ Youth and Senior National Teams last year, showcasing his quality on the international stage and netting him this next European challenge.

The Wonderboy joined Kaya early in the 2022 season, his limited stint with the club spanning the AFC Champions League Qualifiers, Copa Paulino Alcantara, and AFC Cup. In a parting message to the Iloilo fans, he said, “Just a massive thank you to everyone for always supporting, Una Kaya!”

Ryo Fujii made his exit several weeks ago, but stays in Southeast Asia after signing with Indonesian outfit PSIS Semarang. The master passer officially joined the team in 2021, ahead of the team’s first-ever ACL Group Stage campaign.

“It’s been an amazing two years with Kaya,” the Hong Kong-born Japanese midfielder stated. “Thank you to the management and staff for bringing me in and welcoming me with open arms. I’m sure we will cross paths in the future again.”

Quincy Kammeraad signed an extension to stay another year with Iloilo, but will be leaving the team temporarily. Up until June, the young goalkeeper will be on loan with the Azkals Development Team: looking to build chemistry with the squad ahead of the SEA Games later this year.

Carlyle Mitchell entered the fold in the onset of the 2020 season, becoming the team’s defensive rock from the get go. The Trinidad and Tobago international’s well of experience, soaring headers, and veteran leadership came through for Kaya on numerous occasions; but his departure opens the doors for the squad’s other highly talented backline options (Rota, Tacusalme, Menzi, Diano, Casambre) to fill the void.

Patrick Arthur joined the team midway through the 2022 Copa Paulino Alcantara. The Ghanaian midfielder added his size and physicality to the mix, and fans won’t soon forget his electric free kick against Dynamic Herb Cebu FC in his Philippine debut.

Kaya FC-Iloilo would like to thank these players for their contributions to the club, and for giving it their all while representing the yellow and black.
