Jayson Panhay Announces His Retirement The gifted left-footed midfielder retires after four years with Kaya FC–Iloilo.

Kaya FC-Iloilo Midfielder Jayson Panhay announced his retirement from football on Wednesday, bringing to a close the San Carlos City standout’s storied playing career.

Among the most gifted players to come out of Negros in recent time, Jayson went from being a promising player at University of St. La Salle-Bacolod, to a key figure in the rise of what was Ceres Negros. In 2017, as a veteran who’d tasted continental action, he joined Kaya, where he contributed to four big seasons for the club.

“Today is a sad day, because Kaya FC loses a very good player and an even better person in Jayson Panhay,” said General Manager Paul Tolentino. “Jayson brought so much to Kaya in the four years that we worked together, and he truly was a joy and an invaluable member to the squad. He brought quality, not just on the field but off the field as well. That has gone a long way in creating the culture and the camaraderie we have amongst our squad players,” he added.

“We will truly miss Jayson Panhay. The club is forever grateful to him for signing and putting his trust in us since the start of the PFL in 2017. Though we are sad, we are also quite excited for Jayson to take the next step in his life and we wish him all the best.”

Head Coach Yu Hoshide, who worked with Panhay over the last two seasons, also had a heartfelt message for the departing player.

“Thank you very much for all your efforts for the team, both inside and outside the field. I really enjoyed working with you these two years, you’ve saved me and the team a lot. I wish you all the best in your next challenge,” he said.

“Few players in Philippine football have a left foot as sweet as his,” Tolentino stated. “I will always be a fan of Jayson Panhay.”
