22 August 2019 – On a run of three straight wins in the Philippines Football League, Kaya FC–Iloilo are on a roll ahead of a crucial encounter against third placed side Stallion Laguna. The pair headline Saturday’s double header at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa, Batangas, with kickoff scheduled at 7PM. The match will be streamed live over PFLTV.ph.

Iloilo enter the contest in strong form, having scored eight and conceded none in their last three outings. Head coach Noel Marcaida, however, is adamant there needs to be an improvement against Laguna.

“It’s important that we become sharper in front of goal. Winning is about scoring goals not just creating chances,” said Iloilo head coach Noel Marcaida, before adding. “We need to improve. It’s very important for us to finish this month of August on a high note.”

Trailing six points behind leaders Ceres Negros, Kaya need maximum points in order to keep pace. Jordan Mintah has been a key contributor in the club’s current run, with his 18 total goals good enough for second in the Golden Boot race.

“For me actually I’m just playing for the team to win each game. The more the team wins, the more the team is moving forward. We play together, we win together. I’m not into the Golden Boot, or challenging everyone. I’m playing just for the team to win. That’s all,” he said.

Stallion Laguna, meanwhile, are looking to bounce back after being on the wrong end of a 5-0 drubbing against the defending champions in their last PFL match.
