Kaya FC-Iloilo Aims to End League Campaign with an Exclamation With their 25-game season coming to a close, Kaya FC–Iloilo looks to build momentum ahead o the Copa Paulino Alcantara.
Global Cebu vs Kaya FC-Iloilo
4pm | Saturday | August 25
Rizal Memorial Stadium
After a six-month long campaign, Kaya FC-Iloilo will play its final game of the 2018 Philippines Football League season on Saturday afternoon, 4pm, against Global Cebu. The match, which will be held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, serves as a dress rehersal to their opening day meeting in the highly anticiptaed Copa Paulino Alcantara, which kicks off a week later.
“We’ll we keep the same momentum. We might play the same lineup but it depends on the recovery,” said Kaya head coach Noel Marcaida. “We might even play a completely different 11. But we’ll definitely prepare all the players for the cup–to boost and keep the spirit high heading into that competition.”
Iloilo enters Saturday’s clash having just beaten JPV Marikina in midweek, a come-from-behind victory that featured a host of emerging talents within the Kaya squad. A triumph in tomorrow’s match against Global would be a massive confidence booster ahead of the Copa, as Iloilo is grouped with JPV Marikina and Global Cebu in the first round of the tournament.
Kaya recently defeated Global in back-to-back matches earlier in the month, scoring a combined 10 unanswered goals over the course of the two games. But since those meetings, Cebu has added to its lineup. Most relevant to Kaya fans will be Anton Del Rosario, who has featured prominently since his signing for Global.
Tickets for the match are priced at P100, and can be purchased at the Rizal Memorial Stadium entrance. The match will also be streamed live over PFLTV.ph.
